Description:
The Consumer Rights Coalition (CRC), centrally located in downtown Washington, D.C., seeks to fill the position of Digital Communications Associate. The primary objective of this INTERNSHIP is to support the Director of Public Affairs with marketing communication to include, but not limited to, the following:
Writing and disseminating original content for members, stakeholders and the press through the CRC website, social media, blogs and email;
Reviewing and editing both online and print copy;
Understanding of Facebook ads, keyword search and search engine optimization;
Organizing and executing a variety of event logistics, including preparation, attendance and participation in political hearings and industry conferences and state visits;
Managing administrative items as needed.
The ideal candidate will be an out-of-the-box thinker who is looking for new opportunities to expand on current experience with all facets of communications and marketing. This opportunity provides excellent room for learning and growth.
Requirements:
Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, marketing, political science, business or related field;
Superior awareness and proficiency in social media to include, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and online forums;
Excellent research skills;
Experience with multimedia and technology;
Demonstrated excellence in attention to detail, time management and organizational skills; and,
Outgoing personality with a “can do” attitude.

Writing Center Website Coordinator
Writing Center Website Coordinator Responsibilities
Maintain the day-to-day functions of The Writing Center website, and
further develop and expand the site as the needs of the center change.
Work closely with the media coordinator to develop content management
strategies for both the site and the center as a whole, as well as develop the
website to better integrate Writing Center media including social media, video,
audio, and visual content.
Required skills
Ability to create web documents using HTML and CSS
Familiarity with Wordpress
Recommended skills
Ability to code PHP and JavaScript
Familiarity with and ability to develop pages using Wordpress
Functions
Basic knowledge of MySQL databases and phpMyAdmin
Basic knowledge of and/or experience with information architecture
and content management
Additional
This position could be hourly for an undergrad or grad. Could also be an assistantship line for the
grad student with the appropriate skill set.
As an assistantship line, duties would also include serving as a part of
The Writing Center general staff, work as a writing consultant; this position
includes working with clients on various composing project in one-on-one and
small group sessions. May also include facilitating
in-class workshops, especially those on digital topics, e.g., composing for the
web, digital storytelling, etc.

intern, you’ll support client activities through writing, research, media
monitoring, event assistance and all that other fun PR stuff. An internship
opens doors to developing and expanding your portfolio. You bring the positive
attitude and willingness to get your hands dirty, and we’ll provide the
challenges and team atmosphere.

We treat our interns like account coordinators, and
we expect them to actively engage in our daily activities. Our interns are
proactive, creative and reliable…and usually come with an impressive resume.
Interns are compensated $8/hour for their work, so
a basic understanding of public relations is a must. You don’t have to know
everything, that’s why it’s an internship, but it’s best to have previous
experience before applying here. Candidates should be familiar with AP style
and current events and absolutely must be motivated to learn everything they
can while working here.
