Summary of Position: Cliff Bell’s seeks an intern to assist the entertainment and audio department in day-to-day activities. This internship would provide the intern with valuable, real-world experience, audio field experience as well as providing the entertainment and audio staff with additional support. The intern will work closely with the marketing department including other interns.

Supervision: Reports directly to the Entertainment Director

Duties and Responsibilities
• Assists with website event calendar management
• Actively participate as a member of the Cliff Bell’s street team
• Assists with scheduling of entertainment acts for a world-class jazz club
• Learn how to deal with promoters
• Network with and research about jazz artists
• Learn how to write and sign contracts for venues
• Assist with live audio mixing
• Carry out stage plot, setup and breakdown
• Learn about system maintenance and troubleshooting
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Assists with events and sponsorship development
• Actively participate as a member of the Cliff Bell’s street team
• Learn how to apply marketing skills and tactics
• Learn marketing tracking techniques
• Understand and assist in the execution of event planning for clients/guests
• Become familiar with graphic design software programs
• Draft basic public relations materials including news releases, media alerts, fact sheets, status reports and other materials as directed
• Carries out special and media event planning activities and arrangements as outlined by the director of marketing
• Assists with the development and updating of media lists and other databases
• Assists with the management of outside vendors to successfully complete outside work, including, but not limited to printing of materials, etc.
• Assists with the management of newspaper and periodical inventories
• Assist in updating website material
• Perform other duties as assigned

Detroit Zoo Seeks PR Interns for a “Wild” Winter

The Detroit Zoo is seeking enthusiastic student interns for the winter semester who are in their junior or senior year and studying Public Relations, Communications or related fields. Interns will be responsible for researching and drafting press releases, talking points, newsletter profiles and other PR-related copy; scheduling and coordinating media interviews; escorting media through the Zoo during video/photo shoots; assisting with commercial and motion picture film shoots and special events; and performing other PR-related assignments.
Interns will work closely with the Communications Director and other interns while learning valuable skills needed in the Public Relations workforce. Excellent writing and public speaking skills are a plus.
The duration of the internship is early January through early May; 24 hours per week. This is a non-paid internship, and it is mandatory that students receive course credit.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
Provide support to members of the Marketing/Communications team in a fast-paced environment that provides ample professional growth opportunities and work experience. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable marketing/communications experience in design, production, marketing, advertising, special events and public relations; learn about the health care industry; and gain additional writing, editing, data management and media relations skills.
This is an hourly paid contingent position that rotates through the writing, advertising, marketing, design and public relations areas of Marketing/Communications to assist the team with a variety of projects.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
NOTE: Each department leader will assign the contingent one or two projects to ensure a well-rounded experience in all facets of Marketing/Communications.

1. Complete general writing assignments: Write, edit, fact check or proof read content for new collateral and internal communications materials, including Web content, Sales collateral, advertising copy, press releases, articles and social networking sites.
2. Assist the marketing and creative teams with the creation, layout and design of print and digital communication materials.
3. Assist management, marketing representatives and/or HAP's Advertising Agency on photo shoots, TV and radio production assignments, as needed.
4. Assist with special event coordination, as needed.
5. Learn administrative tasks such as maintaining media contact lists, project tracking and inventory management.
6. Participate in meetings and conference calls, upon request.
7. Assist with preparing award nominations.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.

DEVELOPMENT/PR ASSISTANT

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

Support the development team with the planning, execution and follow-up of tasks and responsibilities associated with Foundation special events, development initiatives and campaigns.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 Seeking a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Marketing, Business, Communications or related field
 Excellent verbal, written, organizational skills
 Strong interpersonal relational skills
 Experience with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, preferred
 Flexible schedule, some evenings, weekends
 Own transportation, must be able to perform errands, some light lifting
 Understanding the basics of budgets, a plus
 Assistance with campaigns
 Create and distribute Press Releases
 Maintain and update media contact list
 Event Support
 Creative design skills a plus


RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

 Assist with planning, set up, execution and teardown of events or other foundation development functions
 Solicit and obtain silent and live auction items, in-kind donations, services
 Recruit and coordinate volunteers for fund raising activities, events, functions
 Provide support for special events, campaigns or other development initiatives with strong commitment to teamwork
 Coordinate mailings, e-blasts and other forms of development communications
 Represent Children’s Leukemia Foundation of Michigan (Ambassador) at various functions, events, etc
 Other duties as assigned

OTHER INFORMATION:
 Availability – Flexible Hours, 3-4 Days a week. Weekends on special occasions.
 Unpaid
 Must live in Metro Detroit area.
