Description
The Systems and Programming department is responsible for supporting the data processing requirements of the various Jackson companies with new system development and operational system support.  The Systems and Programming department is composed of several Project Teams, each with primary responsibility for a number of application systems.  Each team is responsible for providing customer support for production systems, resolution of business problems, participation in the design and implementation of new computer systems, and selection and implementation of application software packages.

Principle Accountabilities
The Web Development Intern will provide assistance to staff members as they design, code, document, and implement small to medium size projects. 

The Intern may work as part of a team or be given individual tasks to help analyze processes, data or solve business problems through the use of technology.  Some of these tasks may have firm deadlines that the candidate will be expected to meet.

The Intern must be a self-starter and have the ability to handle multiple tasks/projects.

Selection Criteria

·           Must have completed 2 yrs. in Programming Coursework
·           Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
·           Proven ability to interpret and analyze technical processes and procedures.
·           Experience working with Windows XP, Unix and Web-based tools.
·           Proficiency in the various MS Office software applications.
·           Some experience with HTML, JavaScript, and CSS
·           Experience in the creation of wireframes, and the defining of user experience / interface design

MSUFCU


The MSU Federal Credit Union Internship Opportunity Award program is now accepting applications from any undergraduate student who is actively pursuing or has secured an unpaid summer internship that is focused on non-profit organizations, government, media, the arts, public relations or advertising.  While preference will be given to Lansing area and Michigan non-profits and start up businesses, intern locations anywhere in the U.S. are eligible. 

This summer, 40 stipend awards of $1,000 are available to help cover student expenses related to their unpaid internship experience.  Additional awards may be given pending available funds and student interest/need.  Friday, March 29 at 5pm is the deadline for submitting all application materials (application + personal essay + resume.)  These stipend awards are to help students with expenses related to their summer 2013 unpaid internships. Note that students can apply if they are actively pursuing or have secured a summer internship!

Communications and Advertising Intern
Michigan Pharmacists Association currently has an opening for a Communications and Advertising
Intern. The position would begin in March, and the end date would be based on candidate’s
availability. Our hope is to establish this as a long-term position, helping the individual gain valuable
experience and add pieces to their portfolio. The individual in this position will assist with
advertising sales efforts, marketing, writing projects and social media. This is an excellent
opportunity for those looking for real world experience in preparation for a career in advertising or
communications.
Qualifications:
Experience in advertising and/or communications
Experience utilizing social media tools, including Facebook, Twitter and HootSuite
Currently enrolled in college-level classes in advertising or a communications-related field
High school graduate
Flexible scheduling; most hours will be between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday

Potential Internship Activities:
Assist with advertising sales efforts, including compilation of a contact list for prospective
and past advertisers. An advertising kit is available to assist with activities. MPA offers
advertising in our quarterly journal as well as homepage billboards on our Web site and
sponsorship of our member newsletter.
Help with marketing activities, including promotion of MPA’s Pharmacy Certified
Technician Training Manual and e-publication version that will be available for sale in the
iBookstore through Apple.
Assist with managing social media sites, including MPA’s Twitter feed and three Facebook
pages. In addition, MPA has a Twitter feed set up for a public relations campaign that occurs
in October of each year, surrounding Michigan Pharmacy Week. Develop ideas for growing
MPA’s social media following and innovative post topics that engage members and
encourage feedback, as well as discounts and offerings that will encourage followers to
return.
Complete various writing assignments for publication in Michigan Pharmacist journal and
Pharmacy Insights.
Solicit authors for continuing education articles that encourage continuous professional
development of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
Other Details:
Number of hours per week will depend on the intern’s schedule. Preferably, the internship
will begin in March and run for the length of time that the candidate is available (potential
for long-term over the course of the intern’s educational program)
Internship will be unpaid, but intern will build valuable advertising sales and marking
experience as well as a solid portfolio of writing. Intern also has the potential to be a
published writer and gain experience in a wide variety of areas in communications. There is a
possibility that the right candidate could be paid a commission of ad sales in the future.

Detroit Zoological Society Seeks PR Interns for Summer

Want to mingle with the macaronis and pal around with the polar bears while learning valuable PR and communications skills?  Then the Detroit Zoological Society (DZS) has the internship for you! 
The DZS is seeking college student interns for the summer who are in their junior or senior year and studying Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or related fields.  Interns will be responsible for researching and drafting press releases, talking points, newsletter profiles, Facebook status updates and other PR-related copy; proofing and editing copy; scheduling and coordinating media interviews; escorting media through the Zoo during video/photo shoots; assisting with commercial and motion picture film shoots and special events; updating website and mobile app content; and performing other PR-related assignments.  
Interns will work closely with the Communications Director and other interns while learning valuable skills needed in the Public Relations workforce.  Excellent writing and public speaking skills are a plus. 
The duration of the internship is early May through late August; 24 hours (three days) per week.  This is a non-paid internship, and it is mandatory that students receive course credit.
