Position: Public Relations Intern



Description: Internship for Lansing law firm Marketing Department, to work 20-24 hours per week, Monday-Friday. Duties to include preparing written drafts of news releases; distributing news releases via media outlets' preferred communication mode; tracking success of releases being published; and preparing monthly report of news releases.

Qualifications: Undergraduate degree with major in English, Journalism, Communications or related field; editor/producer experience preferred. Must have excellent grammar and writing skills; ability to simplify complex ideas; and flexible writing style. Applicants must be reliable and capable of working independently, and possess a positive attitude and work ethic.

Public Relations Internship: PR Media I Internship – Call for Applications


The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS) at Michigan State University, seeks a student intern to aid in the creation of public relations marketing and media materials for fall semester 2009. Duties include designing and creating advertising materials, including posters, fliers, invitations to special events, and marketing materials for CLACS. Experience gained from this position will benefit students interested in public relations within a non-profit, NGO, or international context.

Applicants may be MSU undergraduates or graduate students who have extensive working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and InDesign, excellent verbal and writing skills, and an eye for detail. Competency in Spanish or Portuguese preferred, interest in Latin America recommended. The position is for up to 10 hours per week, with a flexible schedule with the possibility of a second semester. A preliminary application, essay and interview are required. The internship will begin August 24, 2009. Although the post is unpaid, recommendation letters and portfolio assistance will be provided. APRR students seeking credit for ADV/PR 493 are encouraged to apply. Please indicate PR Media I Internship on all application materials.

INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION

The Chempetitive Group (www.chempetitive.com) is an integrated marketing firm dedicated to the
life sciences. On behalf of our clients, we work on all aspects of integrated marketing
communications, specifically, advertising, direct mail, tradeshows, online marketing and public
relations.

We're looking for interns who are interested in a fast-paced setting where they can apply their
creativity, energy and public relations acumen. You don't need to know about science, but you
do need to have a curiosity about marketing. Of course, it doesn't hurt if you think science is
cool—we do!

The great thing about our company is that you will be entrusted with a lot of great projects and
work directly with mentors who want to see you succeed and smart clients who will look to you as
their public relations guru. As part of the team, you will help research, develop and execute
marketing programs. Recent interns have written bylines, managed events and developed
communications plans.

SKILLS: Creativity, great oral and written communications skills, a thirst for learning!
TIME: 20 - 40 hours/week (strong preference for full-time)
DURATION: 4 months (flexible based on mutual agreement)
PAY: $10 - $12.00+/hr depending on experience or for academic credit
