ACT NOW FOR MONEY FOR THE SUMMER! THEY WANT AN AD STUDENT!

Through the generosity of three donors, we are able to offer an Internship Award for several students (around 20) involved in summer internships!.  Each individual award will minimally be $800 and is designed to assist in off-setting the expenses often incurred during an internship.  

Please ask students to submit the completed application available at 181 CAS along with their resume by Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at 5pm. As this deadline is fast approaching, I greatly appreciate your assistance insuring it reaches students so they are able to take advantage of this resource available to them!

Professional Internship

Are you a self-starter with a can-do attitude and a passion for communication? Then an internship with Walt Disney World Media Relations may be for you.


What will I do as a Disney Media Relations intern?
Gain real-world experience during a seven-month, paid internship with the Walt Disney World Media Relations team from June 20, 2011- January 6, 2012.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
·        Media relations, including updating media lists; writing press releases, media alerts and other media materials; assisting with the production of Video News Releases; hosting media in Walt Disney World parks and resorts; and proactively generating publicity opportunities to highlight key company initiatives
·        Special event support, such as assisting with the creation of invitation lists; making follow-up calls; assisting with the development of collateral materials; assisting with logistics; and managing photo/video shoots
·        Writing articles and/or interviewing subjects for the Walt Disney World’s e-newsletter, MouseMail and public affairs Web site (www.wdwpublicaffairs.com)
·        Occasionally, serve as the department’s photo journalist and social media liaison by writing blog postings, FaceBook entries, and Twitter updates.
·        Research projects, such as media analysis and issue-related research
·        Some administrative work

The perfect candidate is a junior or senior in college or a recent graduate that has completed a previous internship in public affairs and has other work experience in a print, television or online newsroom, and/or public, media or government relations.  Strong writing and research skills and an understanding of how the news media work also are important. Bilingual capabilities are a plus.

Communications and Outreach

Bath Township is looking for a person to fill a 15-20 hour per week position that would be dedicated to communications and community outreach.  This is a new position and we are currently in the process of drafting a preliminary job description; however, the essential functions of this position would be:

1.  Website content management--working with my office and the various departments to populate the website with current information about the township, events and our services.
2.  Drafting press releases to the local media outlets for various events and projects.
3.  Working with my office to broaden the communication tools available to the township beyond the existing methodologies.

I work for Rolling Stone and Us Weekly magazines and their corresponding digital properties.
We are looking for an Intern for this Summer (June-Sept.). This is an unpaid internship.

Both brands are published by Wenner Media which is owned by the legendary Jann Wenner.

The Internship reports directly to me. I am the Detroit/Midwest Sales Director with responsibility for Sales and Marketing within the territory. I spent nearly 17 years at several major Ad Agencies in Account Management before embarking on a Sales career so I bring those experiences and insights to help the Intern to fully realize the nuances of various advertising disciplines.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

-Research related to current and potential advertisers within the territory
-Competitive reporting utilizing Advertising Database as well as other primary and secondary sources
-Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel as well as strong insights into the evolving social media space
-Coordination of outreach to clients and customers
-Assist Office Manager with outgoing mailings and telephone coverage when required
