SPECIAL EVENTS INTERNSHIP Brighton, MI


Reporting to the Regional Marketing Manager and Director of Operations, the events coordinator is responsible for planning and execution regional events in the Detroit, Lansing, Flint/Saginaw, Grand Rapids and Toledo, OH areas.

The 2012 summer internship begins May 29th – September 9th.

Qualifications:
       Previous customer service and operational experience
       Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
       Experience in the coordination of special events
       Ability to manage multiple projects
       Possesses solid presentation and public speaking skills
       Enrollment in University or college level Business, Public Relations or Marketing program or marketing experience is an asset
       Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
Key Responsibilities:
       Provides support to the Regional Marketing Managers & Coordinators when executing Community Events
       Coordinates the pre-event planning, and budget management of events - utilizing the special events vehicle and event assets
       Works with operations team to plan menu, pricing, and stock order
       Plans marketing collateral and distribution for each event
       Coordinate staffing and volunteer schedules for events
       Oversees the maintenance and daily operations of the Community Events Program
       Communicates and acts as a liaison with franchisee’s surrounding community events
       Provides a post event analysis (i.e.) administration, P/L statements, inventory, monies raised and post event summaries
       After each event, ensures the Community Events Vehicle is clean, well-stocked & maintained
       Coordinates and executes with the post event analysis and the tear down of event materials
       Special projects as assigned

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The position is responsible for supporting the communication needs for the Office of the Great Lakes, to provide consistent, high quality messages and materials for both internal and external use. This position will complete and oversee a variety of professional assignments in coordination with and at the direction of the DEQ Communications Director, including preparation and dissemination of informational, educational, and promotional materials related to the activities of the office. The incumbent is responsible for producing and updating various communication products for OGL programs; maintaining the OGL web site; helping to develop and promote OGL events and providing strategic counsel to the OGL communication effort, in coordination with the DEQ Communications Department. Incumbent works to maximize the positive public profile of the Office of Great Lakes and ensuring that messages and strategies are appropriately aligned with the work of the DEQ and the governor’s office.

Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, broadcasting, telecommunications, advertising, or communication arts.

Experience

Communications Representative 9
No specific type or amount is required.

Communications Representative 10
One year of professional experience in preparing and disseminating informational and promotional materials equivalent to a Communications Representative 9.

Communications Representative P11
Two years of professional experience in preparing and disseminating informational and promotional materials equivalent to a Communications Representative, including one year equivalent to a Communications Representative 10.

State of Fitness Advertising and PR

State of Fitness is looking for an Intern for the Summer 2012 semester for Advertising, Marketing, and PR work. We are looking for someone who is interested in helping a fitness business grow and create innovative techniques to build business. This internship will be non-paid, but could potentially develop into another position. Minimum hours will be 10 hours a week, but can be up to 25 hours a week. Skills in Facebook, twitter, web design, writing, print, TV, radio, and guerrilla marketing, and an interest in health and fitness are encouraged. State of Fitness is a cutting edge personal training facility that is a new and innovative business in the fitness area. A free membership with personal training guidance will be included.

MSU Residential Dining Advertising Aide

I am a Masters student in the College of Communications Arts and Sciences. I work for Residential Dining East Neighborhood here at MSU as an Student Advertising Aide. I will be finishing up my coursework this summer and we are looking for a qualified student to fill my position. The student must have experience with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign. We need students who have at least a year left, but would really prefer students with at least 2 years left at MSU. If you are willing we would really appreciate it if you would pass this information on to your students. We are committed to helping students gain valuable experience and are a unique opportunity due to our awareness that for students school comes first.
