Potter Park Zoo - Graphic/Communications design Intern IMMEDIATE AND THIS SUMMER

Potter Park Zoo is a city of Lansing owned Ingham County operated zoological park.  In accordance with our mission statement, the zoo exhibits over 160 species of animals from around the world to help eduction and conservation efforts.

The design intern will be focused on visitor communications found in and around the zoo.  This includes layout of exhibit and animal signs, design of informational signage, and related duties as assigned.  The intern will create concepts and manage these items all the way through to production.

Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and ability to conceptualize projects in their real world application, and a general eye for design and message.

Communications department at leading Florida environmental organization seeks intern:

Must be trustworthy, Internet savvy, have attention to detail, knowledge of social media including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc. Proven writing skills. Able to conduct research and update media lists. Prior internship experience a plus. Great opportunity to contribute to an important cause impacting the state of Florida.

Additional responsibilities include:
• Research (including, but not limited to research of news coverage; data for press materials; competitive research; internal research through appropriate sources)
• Assist with organizing press events, conference calls and conferences

• Updating materials (i.e. fact sheets, calendars, planning documents, etc.)
• Participate in collective brainstorms for program development
• Loading press releases on the Everglades Foundation website
• Updating press kits
• Answering basic media requests for annual reports, press kits, fact sheets, photographs
• Managing and maintaining photo library
• Compiling and distributing daily clips

Leelanau Conservancy Seeks Summer Intern

College students looking to gain some valuable resume-building experience working for a successful non-profit are asked to apply for a full-time summer intern position with the Leelanau Conservancy. “We give our interns a lot of responsibility if they are up to the challenge and they can really get a lot of hands on experience in the workplace,” says Communications Director Carolyn Faught. “Plus, they get the satisfaction of helping to protect this beautiful place.”

Faught says the intern the Conservancy hires will learn about certain aspects of land protection but will also gain experience in marketing and public relations. Job duties include helping to coordinate volunteers, working on the Conservancy’s Annual Picnic and Auction as well as general office duties. Applicant must be college-age with own vehicle. Strong computer skills with basic knowledge of In Design a plus; pleasant phone manner and team-work attitude necessary. Position can begin as early as April 1 through mid-August; flexible dates based on college start and end dates. Summer PR Internship

Detroit Zoo Seeks PR Interns for “Wild” Summer

Want to mingle with the macaronis and pal around with the polar bears while learning valuable PR and communications skills? Then the Detroit Zoo has the internship for you!
The Zoo is seeking student interns for the summer semester who are in their junior or senior year and studying Public Relations, Communications or related fields. Interns will be responsible for researching and drafting press releases, talking points, newsletter profiles and other PR-related copy; scheduling and coordinating media interviews; escorting media through the Zoo during video/photo shoots; assisting with commercial and motion picture film shoots and special events; and performing other PR-related assignments.
Interns will work closely with the Communications Director and other interns while learning valuable skills needed in the public relations workforce. Excellent writing and public speaking skills are a plus.
The duration of the internship is early May through late August; 24 hours (three days) per week. This is a non-paid internship, and it is mandatory that students receive course credit.

2010 Snyder-Lantz Strategy Internship

Trust Fund of Michigan and Prevent Child Abuse, America)
April 5-8 evenings and the morning of April 9 (20 hours)

This is a chance for no more than a dozen advertising or PR students to work as strategy
interns with Wally Snyder, the Past President of the American Advertising Federation,
and member of the US Advertising Hall of Fame and Mark Lantz, one of America’s
great independent advertising strategy consultants, as they attempt
to design a "brand manifesto" for America’s child abuse neglect and prevention
movement.

Student interns will work as a team with Visiting Professors Lantz
and Snyder helping them make a case that could eventually become
an AD  COUNCIL national campaign to reorient America’s thinking about child abuse
and neglect, and how to get every American engaged in prevention.

The internships will occur in the Communication Arts and Science Building
over the evenings of April 5-8. The internships can be entirely voluntary, or taken for one
credit if the student chooses.

This will be a tremendous resume-building experience.

Successful interns will receive a resume-ready certificate memorializing their selection as a 2010
Snyder-Lantz Intern from the Chairperson of the Department of Advertising, Public Relations,
and Advertising, Michigan State University.
