Stone Ward Seeks Ambitious and Talented Students to Participate in Camp Reality 2012

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Jan. 18, 2011) – Stone Ward announced today that starting immediately, it’s searching for eight ambitious, talented and energetic college students to participate in Camp Reality, a 10-week paid internship program that provides real-world experience to participants who plan to develop careers in advertising.

“I learned more during Camp Reality than I learned in four years of college,” said Liz Rogers, former Camp Reality intern and University of Arkansas graduate. “I had a great time interacting with ad professionals and learning from people who are as passionate about advertising as I am.”

Camp Reality will last from May 28, 2012 until Aug. 3, 2012, and interns will be paid $8 per hour. The 2012 Camp Reality class will include students who are interested in marketing strategy, journalism, public relations, media buying and planning, creative writing, digital design and development, print production, broadcast production and graphic and industrial design.

“Our agency is built on the belief in the potential of every person, client and idea,” President Millie Ward said. “Our Camp Reality program provides real-life experience that brings out the potential in the young people who participate in the program.”

Through Camp Reality, the intern class will team up to produce an integrated, strategic plan consisting of creative concepts, public relations initiatives, media plans and digital products that will be presented to a client at the end of the summer. While creating these materials, interns work alongside and often build lasting relationships with Stone Ward professionals. Interns are given guidance on how to complete projects but are encouraged to exercise their own creativity during the program.

The application period runs January through February and decisions will be made by March 1. Applicants should be juniors, seniors and recent graduates.

Applications, available at StoneWard.com/internships, should be completed and submitted along with resumes and work samples. Resumes should be kept to a page. Portfolios should reflect the best of the candidate’s work.

Submit applications, non-returnable resumes and portfolio samples online or mail to:

REDHEAD

Redhead is launching a new venture—today! It's Ginger, an online store selling stuff we design that doesn't fall under the umbrella of strategic client solutions. cleverginger.com

I would love to get ahold of a great intern for next semester to help us promote Ginger locally, regionally, and nationally. A good friend of mine, Tali Hylen, is co-owner of Ripple Public Relations. She has put together a plan for us, and will be meeting with us monthly to help us (and our intern) keep on track and moving forward. And surely, there will be Redhead PR upkeep that will be tied to this internship as well.

So, I'm looking for a stellar intern that would be a good fit for our growing shop. Overall, I would say we're looking for someone who wants to focus first on PR, and second on retailing. Advertising interest would be fine too, but I don't see there being much space for it in this particular instance.

Duties will include:
- Keeping up with social media posts.
- Drafting press releases.
- Disseminating press releases locally, regionally and beyond. (Your students have access to media databases, right?)
- Developing relationships with media contacts that will be good long-term fits for us.
- Helping to build and clean up our mailing and contact lists.
- Scouring the internet for publicity opportunities that are a good fit for us.
- Helping us refine and research our retail offerings. Specifically there, it would be great to have someone that is interested in retailing and helping us figure out what products we should be carrying more of, how customers are responding to the structure of the site, etc.

Please let me know if you have any students in mind, or if there's someone else I should contact to find a good fit for this opportunity.

Regards,
Amy
