STERLING CORP.

The Sterling Corporation is a premier Republican communications firm located in Lansing, Michigan. Sterling specializes in public affairs, political campaigns, ballot initiatives, and coalition development (including fundraising) for corporations, trade associations, issue advocacy groups and political candidates and committees. We specialize in mobilizing voters, donors, consumers, members, community leaders and public officials. Unlike ordinary political consulting, public relations, or issue management companies, Sterling relentless approach blends aggressive campaign-oriented tactics, unique understanding of voter attitudes, and influential relationships with government decision makers, political leaders, donors and opinion influencers to produce big victories!
Sterling is looking for enthusiastic and motivated public relations and political interns to assist with a variety of client projects. We can offer real, practical experience for our interns. It’s not about making copies or coffee (although that may happen too); it’s about hands-on work for our clients and being a contributing part of our account teams. As mentioned above, Sterling is a conservative firm. That means on the political side we work for Republican candidates, committees, and causes; and on the public relations/issue management side we generally work with the business community, children and family advocacy and with conservative causes and issues.
Sterling interns also have a head start in gaining employment after graduation. Sterling’s strong connections with the Governor’s office, Senate Majority Leader and House Speaker – as well as our GOP Congressional delegation – will be leveraged to help our interns find optimal employment.
The types of assignments our interns receive include the following:
For public relations interns:
  • Drafting and issuing news releases
  • Booking talk radio
  • Setting up news conferences
  • Social media
  • Message development
  • Strategic communications plan development
For political interns:
  • Developing political messaging
  • Developing campaign plans
  • Drafting and issuing news releases
  • Research and polling analysis
  • Social media
  • Legislative outreach
  • Grassroots operations
  • Coalition development and Fundraising
