Professional Internship

Are you a self-starter with a can-do attitude and a passion for communication? Then an internship with Walt Disney World Media Relations may be for you.


What will I do as a Disney Media Relations intern?
Gain real-world experience during a seven-month, paid internship with the Walt Disney World Media Relations team from June 20, 2011- January 6, 2012.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
·        Media relations, including updating media lists; writing press releases, media alerts and other media materials; assisting with the production of Video News Releases; hosting media in Walt Disney World parks and resorts; and proactively generating publicity opportunities to highlight key company initiatives
·        Special event support, such as assisting with the creation of invitation lists; making follow-up calls; assisting with the development of collateral materials; assisting with logistics; and managing photo/video shoots
·        Writing articles and/or interviewing subjects for the Walt Disney World’s e-newsletter, MouseMail and public affairs Web site (www.wdwpublicaffairs.com)
·        Occasionally, serve as the department’s photo journalist and social media liaison by writing blog postings, FaceBook entries, and Twitter updates.
·        Research projects, such as media analysis and issue-related research
·        Some administrative work

The perfect candidate is a junior or senior in college or a recent graduate that has completed a previous internship in public affairs and has other work experience in a print, television or online newsroom, and/or public, media or government relations.  Strong writing and research skills and an understanding of how the news media work also are important. Bilingual capabilities are a plus.

Media relations
Issues management
Third-party relationship building
Promoting important company initiatives in such areas as community relations, diversity, employee relations, safety, business practices and conservation initiatives
