Job Title: Assistant to the Director of Marketing & Private Event Coordinator -
Member of the Cliff Bell’s Street Team

Dates of Positions: Flexible
Time Commitment: 2 months minimum – 6 months maximum; Minimum of 3 hours per week – maximum of 8 hours per week

Business Description: Cliff Bell’s is one of the oldest jazz clubs in the heart of Detroit's historic entertainment district featuring a lavish art-deco interior, classic drinks, great food and musicians playing in the club throughout the week. Cliff Bell’s mission is to provide its guests with good food, good drinks, good entertainment, and a good atmosphere. Our work philosophy is to bring our guests the finest evening available.

Summary of Position: Cliff Bell’s seeks an intern to assist the Marketing department in day-to-day activities. This internship would give the intern valuable, real-world experience, as well as providing the marketing staff with additional support. The intern will work closely with the entertainment and sound departments including other interns.

Supervision: Reports directly to the Director of Marketing

Duties and Responsibilities
• Assists with events and sponsorship development
• Actively participate as a member of the Cliff Bell’s street team
• Learn how to apply marketing skills and tactics
• Learn marketing tracking techniques
• Understand and assist in the execution of event planning for clients/guests
• Become familiar with graphic design software programs
• Draft basic public relations materials including news releases, media alerts, fact sheets, status reports and other materials as directed
• Carries out special and media event planning activities and arrangements as outlined by the director of marketing
• Assists with the development and updating of media lists and other databases
• Assists with the management of outside vendors to successfully complete outside work, including, but not limited to printing of materials, etc.
• Assists with the management of newspaper and periodical inventories
• Assist in updating website material
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Excellent communication skills
• Initiative, drive, common sense, creative flair and flexibility
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
• Ability to undertake basic public relations writing assignments
• Knowledge of Adobe creative quite products, Corel or other graphic design programs is a plus, but not required
• Academic or hands-on experience with event planning/public relations/marketing
• Knowledge of php, html or other web coding languages is a plus, but not required
• Access to a laptop is preferred

Physical Effort: The position involves minimal physical exertion, except when assisting the production of a special event or promotion. Walking and lifting may be required on specific occasions.

Work Environment: Primarily work in the office and outside of the office via meetings.
